WordPress Theme Weekly: Helium

Starting from now, I will be reviewing 1 wordpress theme every Monday. The lucky theme that I will first review is Helium. If you want your theme to be reviewed here, don’t hesitate to contact me.
I’ve seen this theme in Weblog Tools Collection and I was actually attracted with the theme. It is designed simple and clean. It actually looks like a magazine theme because you will see thumbnails of image post in the index page. That’s what most magazine theme looks like now. The theme is actually perfect for any niche. What I want to improve in this theme is the link colors. It might be better if it the hover link color is different from the normal link color. The single post page needs some tweaking also like in the comment area and the area just below the post title. How about you? What can you say with this theme?
This theme is widget ready, support Gravatar, compatible with WordPress 2.6.2 and the last but not the least, FREE.
Looks like a great looking theme.

Indeed it’s simple and clean. The menus position and the top gray menu bar is a nice and very simple touch.
The thing I like most of it is the width. I don’t like narrow themes.

Though it’s a simple theme, I liked it. However, moving the menu items to extreme right top is not a great idea. Menus should be where the user doesnt need to move the mouse much from top center area. Search box positioning is good and not much space wasted for the header.
For the 468×60 ad, the only possible space is right below the title and the grey bar. Not sure if that will leave some empty space on the side bar top.
Overall a decent theme but not exactly a mag theme.

Does that theme work with OIO. It doesn’t look to be ready for monetization.
Very clean and elegant, but I agree with the monetization point Adam raised. It’s always possible to tweak though!

@Adam: It will work for sure. You must just find a good place where you will place the plugin.
@hinlalato: This will add some traffic I think as many people are interested in new themes (like me) I have seen already a visitor from search engine.

I’m not sure I care for it. Maybe I am just too linear but I like a sidebar on each side …BALANCE…and I like more color.
