Tips: How To Be A Top Commentator
My monthly contest here in my blog is a top commentator contest wherein you need to be one of my top commentator to get some free stuffs at the end of the month. Anyway, I am not the only one who is doing this. Lots of bloggers give prizes to their top commentator like Slyvisions and Smarter Wealth.
Tips
- Subscribe to RSS via Reader - I would suggest you subscribe to a blog via RSS reader instead of email subscription because blog post is instantly delivered to rss reader unlike in email subscription which might took up to some hours before it will be delivered to your inbox. By subscribing, you are sure that you will receive the latest update from the blog and you have the chance to be the first one to comment and start the conversation.
- Subscribe to comments via email - I believe most blog have this feature ’cause I do have. You subscribe to comments via email, it is usually below the comment box, and you will receive message in your inbox whenever someone reply to your comment in a blog.
- Post comments with sense - Post comments with sense so that you will not be marked as spam. I have one commentator before in this blog and he tried to comment to much and making two consecutive non-sense comments. I warned him but he still do so. So what happened is I got irritated and I marked him as spam and add him to my blocklist.
- Reply to comments - Reply to comments that you feel deserve a reply. Imagine the comment area like a forum.
- Browse Archives - I got an archive page, I don’t know for others. You browse archives for you to easily comment on old posts that the blogger made. This is what I did in one blog that got big prize for the top commentator and I hit the top spot.
That’s it! You can use that in my top commentator contest and win some stuffs. I encourage you not to spam so that there will be more and more bloggers will be encourage too to have a top commentator contest.
If you became a top commentator, you will not only have prizes but also a link love. Yes because most top commentator widget is dofollow just like mine.

And it is definitely one of THE best ways to get your name and your blogs name out there.

I got my PR2 on this ^ blog, because of commenting. So commenting is worth is.
Replying to comments is a technique I use often, especially if I can’t think of an original comment to make.

true. quite a lot of potential for comments in the archives. what i do is add this site to my blogroll in blogger, since that also informs me when a site was last updated.

these top comment widgets are getting pretty big. I saw some that have PR7 homepages (where the top commentators are posted… the results were approx 100 comments on EVERY blog post.
