Poll: Are You Still Using EntreCard?

October 16, 2008 by admin

EntreCard did made a buzz in the blogosphere for a long time. But I have noticed that it is gradually dying. I actually have used it here in my blog for some time. I remove it in my blog when I realized that it didn’t give me a good return. It just increases my bounce rate and site loading time actually. The tendency is, users drop on my card and then will eventually leave my blog without even giving a second to look at my content.

By the way, what is EntreCard?

  • Entrecard is a blogging network.
  • You can drop your card to show other bloggers that you visited their site.
  • Other sites can drop their card on your site too, and you can check them out.
  • Entrecard uses a currency - Entrecard Credits (EC for short).
  • You can use this currency to buy adverts on other sites.

I would like to know the insights of you about EntreCard. Please do answer also this poll of mine to let me know how many are still using EntreCard. After answering this, share what is your thoughts, opinions, insights, or whatever you want to say about EntreCard.

[poll id="1"]

This poll will run from now until October 18, 2008 7:00 am GMT +8. Results will be posted at the same date after some hour. Thank You!

Am I missing something. Where is the poll?

I am not using EntreCard, although I may in the future. I just purchased OIO Publisher and I know it accepts EC, but I have always used Paypal. Not sure if I will try it, but I like to try new things.

EC seems interesting. Increasing the loading time concerns me. That is the death of a blog. I don’t like to wait for websites to load.

I use entrecard because my blog is just starter and it’s getting not much visitors actually and it’s important to get at least somebody to see it.

  13. Angel Cuala says:

I was an active of EC from Dec till last month, but only for my blogspot blogs.

I decided to leave them because I felt that more and more members are getting greedy to earn more points and they become uncontrollable, which cause my bounce rate to be higher and higher.

I LOVED Entrecard because it is there where I met a lot of fellow bloggers which eventually became my virtual friends.

I even made my Farewell post telling them that I will subscribe to them, and I did. Now, I know who are the members of EC who are really reading my posts because they subscribe to me too.

I junked entrecard last week as it doesn’t help build many relationships and their changes make building a ton of credits up pointless.

  17. BM says:

I’m a member but I’m not an active member or those who religiously drop 300 a day.

I don’t want high bounce rate.

  18. Ava says:

I use Entrecard mainly for networking. It makes it easy to find blogs in my niche. I don’t do a lot of card dropping and never really have. I have used it with various blogs over the last year.

The site is really so as of late, so it’s kind of a pain to use…but I have my friends and that’s all I really use it for. It would be nice to see a site like Entrecard that was just for networking with other bloggers. I’m sure there may already be one out there.

  19. I just took it off from blog two days ago as I don’t see much of a benefit in terms of traffic. Besides, anyone with a few EC credit could easily book a space on blog which in turn isn’t that fair to the other advertisers.

I do and will. I never looked at it for direct traffic, that;s just a bonus.

I saw it from the beginning for what it is…one of the best networking tools out there…for free anyway.

  21. M. Pence says:

I quit using Entrecard and removed their widget when it began slowing down.

There were days where it took forever to load, and some days where the widget on my side didn’t load properly, or at all.

The other issue was that, when it cost more than 4 credits to advertise on my blog–no one was interested. As soon as the price dropped, I have an overwhelming amount of advertisers wanting to place an ad on my widget. The thing about that was–most of these ads dropped were by the most popular blogs in a given niche. I don’t…really think that’s fair.

So yeah, I dropped Entrecard for 2phatgeeks. I may use it for side blogs, but I definitely don’t recommend it for major blogs or blogs you’re trying to turn into a major blog. :p

  22. I never used it and do not plan to use it in the future as well… I doubt whether entrecard or similar systems will bring in any good quality traffic. Though entrecard trading and gifting has become a huge hit, I am sure it will stop soon…

    Cheers,
    Ajith

  23. Dot Com Dud says:

I still use it. I think it works well for the sort of blog I have but if it was a different niche, I don’t think it would work as well. There is no doubt room to imrpove the Entrecard system though.

  24. I still use EntreCard on my crappy free template. Like you said, the visitors really just screw up your bounce rate stat. Very rarely does a real, interested visitor visit or a non-blogspot site drop a card.

IMHO, the best use of the site would be to get visits to a MFA site.
