10 Things I Hate In a Blog
These are the 10 things I hate in a blog.
- Loads very slow.
- Poor design. I love web 2 look designs.
- Last post is a month ago.
- Copy-Paste posts.
- Poor ideas/content.
- Too many ads.
- Not interacting with other blogs.
- Doesn’t offer email subscription. I love subscribing for me to be updated.
- No top commentator widget.
- Long domain name.
Does your blog looks like what I have listed above? Then it’s time to improve your blog now. How about you? What are the things that makes you hate a blog? I know there’s no such thing as perfect blog but let us try to make our blog almost perfect to make our readers return.
What I hate about a blog? Well, if the author is too discriminating and overconfident then I stay away from that blog. I don’t like know-it-alls who aren’t really know-it-alls. I don’t like people who discriminate (in a negative way).

And why do you prefer email subsription before RSS?
Because I don’t use any rss reader (i.e. Google Reader). I want to read updates in my email
9th point (top commentator widget) may not be a big issue as such, but in general I agree to your list. Another thing I hate about blogs is the ‘boastful’ tone - Some people talk big about their blogs all the time. Ideally one should not talk too much about the subscription, earnings, readership achievements too often. I like Problogger’s style than John Chow’s.

Why do you hate the top commentor widget?
I love it so much that I run a competition for the top commentor where they can win $50 every month. This helps me encourage loads of comments on my blog.
Please explain why you hate this

I prefer subscribing to the rss feeder. To me it is better than email subscription. Email subscription just occupy your email and it maybe slow in loading.

Yeah when I launch, I’ll have to include a top commentators section. It should be easy enough to build it into the site. (I don’t like installing plugins that I can build myself - that way I am not reliant on other people keeping the plugin up-to-date
)
Nice List. I agree too many ads are an eyesore, which is why I am trying to build into my site a system that filters who sees ads. I know there is a plugin for that - but as I’ve mentioned, I rather build it myself.

these are are horrible things to have in a blog design - one you forgot:
- Big gay glamor shot of the blog author doing something really “wacky” in the top right rail.
My blog doesn’t have top commentators plugin. Not yet… Wait until I get PR5 then rewarding is more valueable…
I don’t know if my web design is not in web2.0 standards, but I am sure it valid xhtml and I design it my self… So it kind of self satisfactory…

Where is your blog hosted? It must be in a good host to make it faster and try to reduce also number of images in your site.

Your Site is loading slow because you are loading a ton of javascript. If you can try loading javascript in your footer and not the header, that way your page loads first and java after.

It’s the plugin javascript.
My theme javascript(I insert with helps of function.php) is only load at homepage ant it’s a mootol library which must put on section…

It is ok if most of your user have fast connection but we must still consider that there are still dialup users existing.
I have the same problem. I love what jquery, mootools, prototype etc can do, but they are so big. I would take out what I don’t need, but my java is not good. So what I do is search for an alternative.
Just the other day I found a small script that does Tabs, Carousel etc and you won’t believe how big - 1kb.

1st thing: My blog is not about reading reading and reading.. it’s about laughing and laughing and laughing.. Those lazy people who only want is Entertainment doesn’t give time reading contents what they want are videos or pictures…
2nd Thing:
If i make my own funny pictures and videos it will take the half of my life.. and i am not really a person who is trying to reach is not available i mean.. ehem ehem,, I mean i am not really the person who can make you laugh.. i have no such skill like that.. And speaking of content like Ryan from smarterwealth and you making your own content with the brilliant topics and words!
